The Optical Time Domain Reflectometer is used to measure the loss along a fibre link, and locate discontinuities such as splices and connectors. We have designed multiple versions of the OTDR suitable for

1. Long haul links - Mini OTDR - up to 130 km with 4m resolution
2. Metro area networks - Handheld OTDR - up to 30 km with 1×8 type fan-outs

The OTDR technology has been transferred to partners for commercialization. We pride ourselves on having designed (arguably) the first handheld OTDR, about 2 years before they were available commercially.
