I am an assistant professor in the VLSI group of the department of Electrical Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. I work in the area of analog and mixed signal circuits and signal processing.
I graduated with a Ph.D. from Columbia University, New York in Oct. 2000. I worked at the Columbia Integrated Systems Laboratory under the guidance of Prof. Yannis Tsividis in the area of nonlinear analog signal processing for low power integrated circuits. I obtained my B. Tech. degree in electronics and communications engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in 1996. Between 2000 and 2005, I worked as a senior design engineer at Celight, Inc. and Multilink(later Vitesse Semiconductor) where I designed integrated circuits for high speed communications. From 2003 to 2005, I was an Adjunct Assistant Professor and taught courses on Analog Circuit Design at Columbia University.
If you are interested in pursuing research in the areas of Analog/Mixed signal IC design at IIT Madras, send me an e-mail. We have MS and PhD research programs to which students are selected by interviews which are held twice a year. Visit this page for a brief description of the programs. Details of the entrance test, and procedures and requirements for application can be found here and here.
From time to time, we also have openings for project assistant positions. For these, we have an interview similar to that for MS/PhD positions. Take a look at this link for information about the tests. When we take in project assistants, it is with a hope that you will contribute to research and eventually enrol in our MS/PhD programs. E-mail me to find out about project assistant positions.
IIT Madras has a summer fellowship program for third undergraduate students from other colleges. Check out the institute website in your 6th semester for application information. (2009 information is here) Interns for our department are selected from among those applicants. Due to constraints of time and logistics, we are unable to accommodate students of other colleges to do an internship at other times than in the summer after third year, or to do their final year projects in our group.
