This is an old revision of the document!
First of all, congratulations on being shortlisted for the written test and interview. This unique, first of its kind, program is aimed at creating the next generation of star analog VLSI designers in the country.
Please read the instructions below carefully and complete the required formalities before 9th April 2020.
The test and interview will be held on the dates indicated by you(18th April 2020 or 9th May 2020). Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, travelling to IIT Madras will not be possible in the next several weeks. Interviews on 18th April will be held online. Instructions will be sent separately to candidates who have chosen this date. Instructions for those candidates who have chosen 9th May as the interview date will be sent later.
Confirm that you will be attending the interview by filling the form at this link. This link was also sent to you in the email notification of your selection.
The test and the interview will be conducted online. Links to the test paper and meeting details will be sent by email. You must have the software required for the meeting ready and tested beforehand.
If selected, these documents must be mandatorily produced at the time of admissions at IIT Madras.
There will initially be a 2 hour written test covering (a) basic electrical circuits and networks and (b) basic analog electronics. You will NOT be tested in digital circuits or device physics. Please visit this link to get a better idea of what kind of questions to expect in the test.
The syllabus for the test and interview are the same and are given in the website mentioned above. Textbooks are listed and you should be thorough in the relevant chapters of those books. Sample questions are also given. Please be aware that you will be tested on basics - things that a good engineer at the B.E/B.Tech level should know.
Those who do well in the written test will be shortlisted for an interview. The interview will be conducted by faculty in the analog area, and technical experts from Texas Instruments India. Personnel from TI India will also clarify the unique aspects of this program, which is the first of its kind in the country, and explain why this is a much better option than to pursue other degrees.
We look forward to your active participation in our test and interview process. Best wishes, and good luck.
