Research Associateships in Analog and Mixed Signal VLSI Design

IIT Madras invites applications from motivated candidates for research associate positions working on cutting edge research in the area of analog and mixed signal VLSI design, in the Department of Electrical Engineering. This programme is a joint initiative by IIT Madras and Texas Instruments India Pvt Limited (“TII”) which brings together expert faculty and a strong academia-industry interface. Research associates will be eligible for admission in the Master of Science (MS) Programme (by research), subject to the norms and admission criteria of IIT Madras.

Features of this programme
  • Associates in this programme will work on relevant industrial problems, and will have the opportunity to intern at TII. The research will be supervised jointly by faculty from IIT Madras and TII.
  • Candidates will be selected based on a written test and interview conducted by IIT Madras.
  • The selected students will receive minimum emoluments of Rs. 20,000/- per month throughout the programme.
  • The students selected to the program will receive a provisional non binding employment offer from TII at the time of joining the course.

To apply, you must
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunications engineering (or allied disciplines) with an aggregate of 65% (up to the final semester; if the final semester results are not yet announced, up to the seventh semester).
  • Have met the following requirement for GATE score in 2015 or 2016
    • GATE EC paper: Rank 1 to 1000
    • GATE EE paper: Rank 1 to 750
  • GATE requirement is waived for IIT BTech students with a cumulative grade point average(CGPA) or 8 or higher.

The coordinators of this research programme have the discretion to restrict the number of candidates to be called for the interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum described in this announcement.

  • You will also need to apply to the MS program at IIT Madras at https://research.iitm.ac.in/. Choose EE3 as one of your specializations in that form. This site will be open from February 28th 2016 to March 27th 2016.

Important dates

  • Applications will be accepted from 19th March 2016. The application form will be inaccessible till then.
  • Last date for submitting applications: 27th March 2016 (The website will close at 5pm). Applications are now closed
  • Notification to shortlisted candidates: Candidates with an aggregate score more than 65% and a GATE rank within 1000 in EC or 750 in EE have been sent shortlisting emails. If you applied, met these criteria, but did not receive the email, send an email to analogresearch@ee.iitm.ac.in
  • Test and Interview dates: Test and interview will be conducted on two dates: 15th April 2016(Friday) and 14th May 2016(Saturday). The date is changed from 13th to 14th because of the regular MS interview dates. You can attend any one of them. You should indicate which one you will be attending on the application form. The invitation email will contain the interview date which you indicated on the application form.
