Title: A Study on Dielectric Properties of Silicone Rubber-BN Nanocomposites under DC Voltage

Abstract :

The present study investigates the dielectric and thermal properties of silicone rubber composites incorporating low-weight percentages of boron nitride (BN) fillers, targeting insulation applications. The inclusion of BN fillers significantly alters the glass transition temperature (Tg), melting temperature (Tm), and crystallization temperature (Tc) of the silicone rubber matrix. The dielectric constant increases while maintaining a minimal loss factor, even at low BN filler concentrations. Space charge limited current (SCLC) measurements were utilized to assess trap density, revealing that the addition of 3 wt% BN filler markedly improves the crossover voltage and reduces trap density. Furthermore, incorporating 3 wt% BN nanofillers results in a 25.4% increase in surface discharge inception voltage (SDIV), highlighting its potential for enhancing the electrical insulation performance of silicone rubber composites.
