As the demand for data grows exponentially, traditional cellular networks face several challenges like providing enhanced system capacity and coverage. Wireless relay stations can overcome these challenges to a large extent without incurring high costs.

Optimum relaying protocols that achieve capacity are not known for general relay channels. We propose a protocol called Greedy Successive Relaying (GSR) for the half-duplex multi-relay single destination multicarrier channel that achieves rates within a constant gap of the capacity. This protocol outperforms existing protocols. We also propose a Successive Relaying protocol for the 2-relay 2-destination multicarrier channel. By analyzing the linear program associated with the cutset bound, which is an upper bound to the channel capacity, we understand why the successive relaying gives good performance.
