If you are shaky with the fundamentals, you are urged to view the lectures and do the problem sets of EC201. ====== Textbook(s) and References ====== Listed below are some textbooks. There is also a host of information available on the WWW. - Design of Analog CMOS Integrated Circuits : Behzad Razavi - Design and Analysis of Analog Integrated Circuits : Paul Gray and Robert Meyer - Analog Integrated Circuits : David Johns and Ken Martin ====== Evaluation ====== There will be design assigments due approximately every two weeks. These will count for 50% of the grade. Quiz 1, Quiz 2 and the end semester exam count for 15%,15% and 20% respectively. Much of the learning is this design course is done through the simulation assignments. You can use the CAD tools available with the Institute to do the assignments. Information about software downloads, intsallation and transistor model files can be found here. For all assignments use the ** 0.18um TSMC CMOS model parameters and a supply voltage of 1.8 V **. ====== Design Assignments ====== Assignments will be posted below. * * * * Assignments must be submitted by Email to **ee539.iitm@gmail.com** ONLY, as a single PDF file attachment. The file **must** be named according to roll number in the following manner - if your roll number is EE08M007, and you are submitting assignment one, call your file ee08M007_01.pdf **Plagiarism** (euphemistically excessive collaboration, really copying) is a serious offence. By submitting assignments you are implicitly agreeing that you have been honest in doing your assignment. If I find out that you have plagiarized, you will accept the penalty I deem fit. ====== Attendance ====== Attendance will be strictly enforced and those falling short will not be permitted to write the end sem exam. TAs will go around the room taking attendance at the beginning of the class. If you are more than 5 min. late, please do not enter the classroom. ====== Lecture Notes ====== ====== Video Lectures ====== - Lecture 1 : Components available on an IC : the MOS transistor - Lecture 2 : Using NMOS and PMOS cheat-sheets in a simple common-source amplifier design - Lecture 3a : Common-source amplifier (contd), high frequency models for the transistor - Lecture 3b : other components available - resistors, capacitors and inductors - Lecture 4 : High frequency analysis of the CS amplifier - Lecture 5a : Improving DC gain by adding a common-gate stage (cascoding) - Lecture 5b : The CG stage continued - Lecture 6 : The cascode continued, the high swing cascode - Lecture 7 : The high swing cascode (contd), frequency response of the CS amplifier with an active load - Lecture 8 : Frequency response of the cascode amplifier with an active load - Lecture 9 : Cascode amplifier (contd), the common-drain amplifier - Lecture 10 : Common drain amplifier (contd), output impedance in a feedback based voltage source. - Lecture 11 : The Transimpedance amplifier - Lecture 12 : Transimpedance amplifier (contd) - Lecture 13 : The Voltage-controlled-current-source, introducing the folded cascode. - Lecture 14 : The folded cascode (contd)- power failure after twenty minutes. - Lecture 15 not recorded. - Lecture 16 : The differential pair with active load. - Lecture 17 : The differential pair with active load (contd), frequency response. - Lecture 18 : Introducing the bandgap reference. - Lecture 19 : The bandgap reference (contd). - Lecture 20 : The bandgap reference (contd). - Lecture 21 : The bandgap reference (contd). - Lecture 22 : Fixed-gm bias circuits. - Lecture 23 : Stability in negative feedback systems. - Lecture 24 : Stability in negative feedback systems (second and third order systems)
