Welcome to the IITM Student Chapter of OSA. We are part of the OSA (The Optical Society), one of the premier professional bodies focused on the promotion of Optics/Photonics research and education. Since the formation of our Chapter in 2009, we have progressed leaps and bounds in several of our Chapter’s goals including promotion of research, innovate, educate and enhance awareness in Optics and Photonics. The Chapter is completely run by student representatives and is advised by a faculty member from the Optics and Photonics research group at IIT Madras, Chennai, India. Our activities are divided into following categories-
- Prachara- Includes outreach activities like school visit, demonstration at Shaastra – The Technical Fest at IITM
- Samghoshna- Includes lectures and interaction with distinguished people across the world
- Samwad- Includes student activities like seminars, photonics journal club and recreation trips
- Parichaya- Includes industrial visits, workshops
- Optics Esposizione- Event for school students to spread awareness about importance of light
