Communication
Computer network basics, ISO/OSI 7 layer reference model, Data link layer, MAC sublayer, Network layer, Ethernet (CSMA/CD), CSMA/CA, QoS, Routing protocols, a bit of digital telephony, asynchronous multiplexing, PDH and SDH networks, basic probability theory, discrete event simulation, law of large numbers, confident intervals and NMS. His work usually involves reading ITU standards and transfer of the knowledge into implementation depending on the requirement of the project. Should be comfortable with the simulation softwares, ns2, glomosim and OPNET.
Hardware:
VLSI basics, VHDL programming, a bit of Computer networks to the extent of Physical layer in ISO/OSI 7 layer reference model. He would be responsible for design of physical layer functionalities, given a higher level protocol. Should be comfortable with Verilog/VHDL programming and modelsim. A bit of computer networks and previous exposure to FPGAs would be an added advantage.
Analog Electronics:
He would be responsible for any board design the project may involve, a thorough grasp of fundamentals including, line coding, PLL and RF basics. Previous exposure to board design in particular, experience with the microcontroller would be an added advantage. Project Assistant (PA): Any recognised certificate course in computer applications. Project Technician: ITI electronics trade. Should be familiar with computer hardwares, fiber basics, splicing techniques, electronic measuring instruments etc.
