Talk Title: "Classical Music - A Powerful and Effective Communicative Medium"
Abstract: Communication in its myriad forms is how we come to live as social beings. In all settings, starting with the Home, in school/college, at the workplace... communication is through which learning/transmitting/collaboration/sharing etc happen. Music, classical music in particular, has always been a very powerful tool/medium of communication since ages. Classical music communicates through delight and enjoyment and is hence a most effective way to reach both the intellect and psyche. Indian classical music communicates Emotions, History, Poetry, Philosophy, conceptual aspects of design, spacial and mathematical constructs, social and environmental awareness and a hundred other things very effortlessly. Built into its methods are countless, seamless and intuitive ways of communication. Classical music communicates more than anything else a sense of identity, humanity and happiness like nothing else.
This concert lecture shall touch upon some of these aspects with compact examples and demonstrations.
