Although we have been witnessing tremendous improvements in smartphone cameras over the last few years, the aperture size continues to be limited due to constraints in size and compactness of the device. With a very small aperture (in comparison to  DSLR cameras), low-light imaging with smartphone cameras can often be frustrating.  The sensor does not gather enough light and hence the captured image will be noisy.  On the other hand, when exposed for a longer duration the image can get motion blurred. In this talk, we discuss a set of algorithms to produce a sharp, well-exposed image under dim light scenarios. The real challenges to address while designing such restoration algorithms are space-variant blurring due to camera rotations, depth variations in the scene, inter-frame motion among the captured images, and high dynamic range of the scene. We devise a multi-image-based restoration framework to address these challenges by exploiting  burst mode and exposure bracketing in smartphone camers.
