Power distribution systems are undergoing multi-fold changes with advanced technological developments. Existing distribution system analysis methods are incapable of handling these changes and fail to provide exact situational awareness for the last mile connectivity. With the emergence of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems and its integration with Distribution Automation (DA) system, it is possible to design intelligent algorithms which can perform look-ahead analysis and advanced monitoring of distribution systems. In this seminar talk we present research work on innovative algorithms for look-ahead distribution analysis and low voltage (LV) distribution load flow method. Application of advanced distribution system analysis for DA applications at Medium Voltage (MV) level is described. The Proposed algorithms provide advances in the state-of-the art and a new dimension in distribution system analysis for the first time in this literature space. A detailed case study on standard distribution test systems along with simulation results will be discussed.
