Norms used for shortlisting candidates in EE Department

Note:

Candidates applying for the MS Programme

Both a UG degree and Gate score are required.

Regular, General-Category Candidates

We are looking for candidates with 65% in their UG and 450 gate score. However, a very good score in one can offset a poor score in the other (eg: UG%>75 and GS of 400), as follows:

Regular, Reserved-Category Candidates

We are looking for candidates with 60% in their UG and 425 gate score. However, a very good score in one can offset a poor score in the other (eg: UG%>70 and GS of 375), as follows:

External/Part-time Candidates

Candidates applying for the PhD Programme

A PG Degree is a must. Gate is optional.

Regular, General-Category Candidates

We are looking for candidates with 65% in their UG and 70% in their PG. However, a very good score in one of UG%, PG% or GS can offset a poor score in one of these (eg: PG%>75 and UG%>60), as follows:

Regular, Reserved-Category Candidates

We are looking for candidates with 60% in their UG and 65% in their PG. However, a good gate score score can offset a poor score in the other (eg: PG%=60 and GS>375), as follows:

External/Part-time Candidates

Note: Even if applicants with GRE scores are accepted into the research programmes in the department, please note that they are not eligible for financial support. However, a student with GRE who has been admitted to the programme can clear GATE at a later date and will then be eligible for teaching and research assistantships.
